Rolf G. Pohlmann is the founder of our law offices. Born in Munich, he was the office manager for many years at one of the large bankruptcy administrator offices, before he decided to open up his own practice. As far back as in law school, he was especially fascinated by life in business. At the time, he worked at an international management consulting firm, and completed internships at banks and business-oriented law offices here and abroad. He demonstrated his leadership qualities early on, in a completely different field too, as the Rescue Services Leader for major catastrophe zones and as the scheduler for the rescue control center. Rolf Pohlmann has been appointed in over 600 bankruptcy cases as the expert and (interim) bankruptcy administrator, as well as the legal custodian for debtor in possession proceedings. For years now, he is listed as one of the most often appointed bankruptcy administrators for companies in Bavaria.

Rolf Pohlmann has given numerous lectures on the bankruptcy act, as an adjunct professor at the Hamburg University for Distance Learning and as the white-collar crime expert at the Vocational Training Institute of the Bavarian Police. In 2007, he was conferred the right to bear the title Bankruptcy Code Specialist Attorney. In 2011, he became a Member of the Bar Association of Munich, and moved up to the position of Vice President & Treasurer in 2014.

Dr. Matthias Hofmann is partner in our law firm. He is among the most often appointed insolvency administrators and supervisors (debtor-in-possession-cases) in Germany. He has handled over 500 cases since 2007. Since obtaining his degree in jurisprudence and a degree in corporate reorganization, he has been focusing on Insolvency Law. Even his doctoral thesis under Prof. Dr. Gottwald was on “Debtor in Possession in a Bankruptcy.” He graduated in the top 10 of his law school class. Since passing the bar exam, he has concentrated solely on bankruptcy administration.

Dr. Matthias Hofmann has authored and lectured on the bankruptcy code, especially the issue of debtor in possession. In addition to many articles he wrote on the bankruptcy code, he has contributed numerous papers and commentaries on judgments. Moreover, he has commented on §§91-96 of InsO (Bankruptcy Code) in the Graf-Schlicker book, the bankruptcy code itself, and addressed diverse aspects concerning the issue of debtor in possession in the bankruptcy restructuring handbook published by Kübler. Furthermore, he authores the ZIP handbook entitled “Debtor in Possession.” On top of this, Dr. Matthias Hofmann serves as an adjunct professor for lectures on the issue of a Debtor in Possession in a Bankruptcy, targeted at master’s degree students majoring in corporate restructuring and bankruptcy at the Nürtingen-Geislingen University for Business and the Environment. He has also lectured at several functions of the Munich Bar Association, the German Academy of Judges, a loan insurer, and the publisher RWS. At such functions, he delved into issues relating to a debtor in possession and corporate reorganization.

Dr. Björn Hellfeld went to the law schools in Munich and Bayreuth. He also majored in commercial law at the University of Bayreuth, with emphasis on competition and marketing. He obtained his Doctor of Laws (LL.D.) degree under Prof. Dr. v. Heintschel-Heinegg at the University of Regensburg. After passing the bar exam, he initially practiced in the field of white-collar crime before shifting over to bankruptcy administration at our law offices in 2009. Since then, he has handled over 100 bankruptcy cases, almost exclusively involving the assets of legal entities. In addition to restructuring processes, he addresses criminal bankruptcies – including legal custodianship for debtors in possession. In 2013, he completed his theoretical education as an attorney specializing in the bankruptcy code.

During her studies Karen Buve worked at a legal firm involved in handling bankruptcies across Germany. She passed her bar exam in 2005 and has several years of experience in commercial law. With us, she works on bankruptcy cases, primarily concerning the investment act and corporate law, based on experience gained as a jurist in companies and as an attorney. Her last posting over several years was at one of the largest international certified public accounting firms: here, she concentrated on restructuring and reorganization, managing firms in crises, and advised mid-sized and large corporations in diverse sectors under contract to senior management, shareholders, primary debtors, and investors. She served as an expert on reorganization and the outlook for continuing operations, in addition to being entrusted with concepts, execution, and assistance with restructuring. She also assisted numerous corporate M&As, managing key sub-elements of such transactions.

Anja Meister attended law school at the Technical University of Dresden, graduating among the top ten of her class. At first, she worked on general commercial law issues, before moving over in 2005 to bankruptcy administration, where she switched to the procedural unit. As such, she worked for a legal firm active across Germany on bankruptcy code cases. She joined us in 2007 to handle bankruptcy reports, focusing primarily on complex legal issues. She has been heading our final reporting department since 2010. Anja Meister passed the specialized legal course on the bankruptcy code.
